A bride’s biggest moment can be ruined by narrow-minded groom

A destination wedding at a Sandals resort comes free with bookings of six or more nights.

Gentlemen, please pay close attention.

A wedding day and accompanying honeymoon should be a memorable event for both parties. But the truth is … the day really belongs to the bride.

Alan Whitt

Some guys just don’t get it. And the poor young woman who snags a neanderthal in holy matrimony usually pays the price.

Every girl dreams of her wedding day from the moment she reaches puberty … some even younger.

A glorious wedding and well-planned honeymoon can define a marriage.

Guys, if it is within your budget give your bride what she wants. You’ll be rewarded on the honeymoon and for the rest of your married life.

Allure Quest Travel Experience is honored to handle the honeymoon plans for a young lady planning a June 2013 wedding.

In fact, the future bride wants a destination wedding at a Sandals resort in the Caribbean.

She was giddy when we gave her a bouquet of good news.

  1. The wedding would be free … thanks to Sandals’ “Beautiful Beginnngs” package.
  2. With the help of our honeymoon registry they’be be able to get more than they originally planned because much of the honeymoon will be paid for by family and friends.
  3. They get a deep discount due to Sandals’ current sale, as well as an airfare credit and a spa credit.

She was going to have the wedding of her dreams … with a glorious honeymoon … at one of the most famous luxury resorts in the world.

Unfortunately, the groom stepped in and everything changed.

This isn’t about money. I don’t care what it costs as long as the clients have a memorable honeymoon worthy of reflection for the rest of their married lives.

But when you go from a week at Sandals La Toc in St. Lucia … to two days in a cabin in Gatlinburg, TN … well, there’s something wrong here. By the way, the groom – who has never been married – wants to take two kids along on the honeymoon!

The bride’s once bubbly outlook turned into a rather depressed persona. My opinion? It doesn’t bode well for the young lady and her second marriage.

He took her joy and tossed it into a shredder.

Shame on him.

Sandals brand enhanced with multiple TripAdvisor awards

Sandals La Toc on St. Lucia is popular with private plunge pools overlooking the Caribbean Sea.

The bible says a good name is worth more than silver and gold. Or something like that.

I’ve learned that truth the hard way … that no matter how well you polish your reputation it can be tarnished by wrong choices or a few well-placed lies.

You do all you can to protect your reputation.

In another life I worked as news editor for ESPN’s signature show – SportsCenter, and even won a couple Emmy Awards. My job was to make sure that everything shows reported was 100 percent accurate.

ESPN takes great pride in correctness. My motto was “it’s better to be second and right … than first and wrong.”

Your brand is your reputation … and your reputation is your bread and butter.

No brand is more sparkling than Sandals portfolio of resorts – including Sandals Resorts, Beaches Resorts and Grand Pineapple Resorts. That explains why all of them received certificates of excellence from TripAdvisor – the website that reviews hotels and itself has a reputation for accuracy.

If you know the Sandals name you understand that quality is premium. Sandals and Beaches are all-inclusive quality resorts who’s clients relax in the lap of luxury for the duration of their stay.

TripAdvisor’s certificate of excellence award honors hospitality excellence. The accolade is given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveler reviews at TripAdvisor.com.

Only 10 percent of accommodations listed on the website receive the award, so the fact that Sandals received 20 awards from amongst the thousands of hotels and resorts around the world says it all.

One less Beaches to play on … Sandy Bay leaves brand on Sept. 30

Beaches Resorts is about to shrink by 25 percent with the announcement that Beaches Sandy Bay in Jamaica will no longer carry the name as of September 30.

Alan Whitt

That may disappoint some people, but the termination of the lease with the property’s owners is simply an indication that the Sandals and Beaches brand is all about quality.

It seems that the owners didn’t want to make the necessary upgrades to keep Beaches Sandy Bay vibrant and in line with the company’s other luxurious Caribbean resorts.

The divorce will terminate a 12-year relationship and leaves Beaches with two resorts in Jamaica (Beaches Negril & Beaches Boscobel) and one in Turks & Caicos.

Unlike some divorces, these parties are simply going their separate ways without a verbal volley being fired.

“Despite the successes of Beaches Sandy Bay, the resort no longer fits the long term strategy and vision of our organization and we will look to pursue other exciting opportunities elsewhere,” Sandals said in the statement.

Guests with reservations through August 31 can be assured that Beaches Sandy Bay will operate with the company’s usual efficiency throughout their stay.

Those with reservations from that point have an option of changing bookings to similar accommodations at one of the other two resorts on the islands without penalty or change fee.

If you have a favorite staffer at the resort – and many people do – employees will be relocated to other Beaches properties with available positions.

The property’s owners, Pioncianna Resorts Limited, will resume the daily operation of the hotel upon the end of the agreement.
