If you’ve read “Huckleberry Finn” or “Tom Sawyer” literary masterpieces you know the romantic power of the mighty Mississippi River.
I guess that’s why people still love a riverboat cruise.
It’s a wonderful way to connect the past with the present, visit historic ports along the way … and get an experience unlike any other cruise, including ocean or European river cruises.
A riverboat cruise is distinctly American, draped in Southern hospitality.
You’ll enjoy a variety of musical performances including jazz, blues, ragtime, bluegrass, country and rock & roll, in venues designed to recapture the atmosphere of an era bygone.
And dine on Southern delicacies created by masterful chefs.
So it’s just in time that the 2013 itineraries for Great American Steamboat Company’s American Queen have been announced and open for booking on June 23.
Beginning on Feb. 16 through June 15 voyages, American Queen will sail New Orleans to Memphis and vice versa, with a few New Orleans round trippers thrown in for good measure.
For the rest of the year, American Queen’s itineraries included St. Louis, St. Paul, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and Chattanooga before returning to New Orleans and Memphis to close out the year.
