Some things stand out more than others … and this will be one of them.

One of the most rewarding segments of my business is Spiritual Voyages. I book church congregations on group cruises, because not only is it a great way to fellowship, but in the right situation … with the right cruise line … it can be profitable.
This might surprise the uninformed, but church folk aren’t boring people with their noses stuck in a bible 24 hours a day.
They certainly know how to have a good time, just in a respectful way. Even though what happens on a cruise ship, stays on a cruise ship … usually the most outrageous thing you’ll see are members on a dance floor.
Of course, you never know what’s in that glass … and the back of that head in the casino sure looks familiar … but most times the report comes back to the church that everything was A-OK.
Last month I sailed on Liberty of the Seas with Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church of out St. Paul, MN, under the leadership of Rev. Steve Daniels.
No, this isn’t some expose about some church members acting out. This was probably the best group I’ve sailed with, and that’t saying a lot.
However, what set this group apart was the way church members kept their mission of bringing people to God intact even on a cruise ship.
Shiloh held a full-blown Sunday service the first day at sea, and a couples workshop the following Wednesday. Throughout the cruise, members invited others to services and it paid off.
At the Sunday service, a man from New Jersey enjoyed Rev. Daniels message so much, that he asked to stay connected to the church when he returned home.
That’s pretty powerful.
More showed up for the couples workshop, conducted by Rev. James Kendrick of Memphis.
Others said they would have attended had they known about it.
The fact is that people are starving for The Word even on vacation. A Spiritual Voyage is not only a way to vacation, fellowship and raise money, but also a great way for members to join our S.W.A.T.(S) team – Saints Witnessing Around The Ship.
